With careful planning, four activities were scheduled across three days, which were designed to maximize our time with our colleagues online and avoid conference call fatigue. Despite the lack of in-person meetings, we were still face-to-face with our colleagues over video. We met new colleagues and reconnected with those we hadn’t seen a while, all while working together on different tasks and games. LINK provided goodie bags to all employees with snacks and new headsets to ensure communication was easy and efficient.
Elise Hagen, HR Generalist, says, “With employees working from home we had to think new – how do we inspire, engage and activate our employees through a computer screen? In a world strongly affected by a pandemic, we were able to ‘gather’ our employees in a new way, building identity and culture from 450 different locations. Computers can’t replace physical meetings, but it can be an efficient way to replace the social contact we’ve lost during COVID-19 – not to mention it’s environmentally-friendly!”
LINK Days kicked off with a State of the Union led by CEO Guillaume Van Gaver, followed by live studio interviews in the format of a talk show. Various managers talked more about our strategy and our role as a CPaaS provider. LINK CTO, Torbjørn Krøvel, acted as the talk show host as he interviewed our Product Director, Phillip Grønvold; VP of Global Sales, Guro Røed; Global Marketing Manager, Kari-Anne Jakobsen; Director of Solutions Development, David Parra; Norwegian and French sales directors, and more. Day one wrapped up with a group game to practice the new strategy concepts and trivia on the company’s history.
Day two involved more socialization with a new group of coworkers. Our task was to “beat the hacker” by working together to solve a variety of riddles. Winners were announced, but with great team spirit and collaboration, everyone came away a winner.
The last day started off with an introduction to the importance of values in a company and what our current values are. An external speaker, Sigurd Granmark, presented on company culture and values to get us inspired. Sigurd Granmark founded All In in January 2014. Before that, he was the CEO of Adidas Group Norway. He has over 20 years of experience as a leader of Norwegian and international companies. Since 2014, he has studied more than 1,000 companies in the search of successful organizations. Sigurd is one of the most sought-after speakers in Norway in culture, organization, management and digitization. To wrap up day three, teams met online to brainstorm new values that reflect our brand, strategy, and position in the market.
Overall, LINK Days 2020 were a success! Employees came away with a better understanding of the organization and where we are going, as well as stronger relationships with each other and lots of practice with digital collaboration. We look forward to using our continued focus and engagement to better serve our customers and grow our organization.
